How to Apply

USH has a simple and easy application process to help you obtain a safe and comfortable homestay. If you would like to apply for a homestay, you will simply need to follow this step-by-step guide:

Step 1 - Application Form

• Completely fill out the USH Homestay application form and submit it online or print the PDF version and fax it to us at 310-824-2412
• Keep in mind that students normally submit their homestay applications 30-45 days in advance of their arrival to allot USH time to match them with the best host possible. However, we may be able to place you with shorter notice.
• Make sure you have filled out all parts of the application, including your credit card information for the application fee and security deposit. We cannot process your application without receiving the payment information for the application fee and security deposit. You may also send us a wire transfer; please contact us for wire transfer information and other methods of payment. Please note that we will not charge your credit card for the application fee and security deposit until we are certain that we will have a homestay available for you.

Step 2 - Confirmation of Application

• Once you submit your application, USH will send you an e-mail within 48 hours (during business days) confirming that it has received your application and is processing it. Also, if your application was incomplete and we need further information, we will notify you at this time. IMPORTANT: USH will make 3 attempts to contact you for any missing information; if we do not hear from you after the third attempt, we will assume that you are cancelling your request and will cancel the application.
• Since students normally submit their applications at least 30-45 days in advance of their arrival, if you are submitting the application within less than 30-45 days of your arrival, it may either limit our abilty to meet your requests or it may be that we won't have a host available for you for the date you are requesting. USH will do its absolute best to arrange a homestay for you that meets your requests. But at any rate, please expect to receive more information as to the availability of a homestay for you shortly; we will contact you in regards to this as soon as possible after we receive your application.

Step 3 - Finalizing your reservation

• Once USH has arranged your homestay, we will send you an e-mail with all of your homestay information, including information about your host, address, phone number, homestay policies, etc.
• You will also receive an invoice stating your total housing fee for your homestay.

Step 4 - Arrival Information

• Please make sure you e-mail USH with your arrival information (date, time, airline carrier, and flight number) at least 10 days in advance of your arrival. Also, let us know if you will need airport transfer service.
• If you do not send us your arrival information at least 10 days prior to your arrival, we cannot guarantee that we will be able to arrange your airport transfer. Also, if we don’t have your arrival information, we cannot guarantee that your host will be home when you try to check in to the homestay.

Step 5 - Payment Due

• Housing fee payment is due prior to or within the first 10 days of your arrival. For more information about payment, please click here to go to the payment section.

Following the above steps when you apply for a homestay will ensure that your application will be received and processed efficiently and quickly.
