After You Arrive
If you have requested USH to arrange an airport transfer for
you, please follow the instructions that were e-mailed to you
with your confirmation (click here for a sample confirmation):
•Also, once you board the van, please make sure the driver knows where
to take you based on the confirmation number you give him (make sure it is
the same address as your homestay address).
• Please note that if USH arranged your pickup, you will not need to pay
the driver for the ride. However, gratuity is up to the student.
If you are going to arrange your own ride from the airport
to the homestay:
• US airports offer ground transportation
such as shuttles, taxies, busses, and limousines.
• You will simply need to step out
of the baggage claim area into the sidewalk and you will
see the taxies, limousines, etc.
• A taxi or shuttle would be most likely
be the cheapest and best options for your ride home.
• Make sure you choose the best option
for you and ask the driver how much the ride will cost, how
long it will take, etc. before you decide which option to
choose.
• If you arriving into the Los Angeles International
Airport and would like more information on ground transportation
or have any concerns, please visit the airport
website.
• Once you arrive at the homestay,
your host will welcome you home and show you around the house.
They will also show you your room, explain their house rules,
explain how to use household appliances, inform you about
meal times, etc.
• Once in the United States, USH expects
that its students will follow all laws of the USA, of the
state of California, and of the local city they are in.
• Students are also fully expected to follow the host’s
house rules and to respect the home and premises of the host.
Please click here for sample house rules that USH and its hosts
expect you to follow.
• Drinking of alcoholic beverages
and usage of drug substances or any other illegal substances
are NOT, by any means, permitted in the premises of your
homestay and will be considered as inappropriate behavior
for the purpose of cancelling your homestay agreement without
any refund of your housing fee.
• If you like the host and would like
to extend, you are welcome to do so. Please contact us within
the first week of your arrival to let us know of your intention
to extend and we will confirm with the host if it will work
for them as well. We will then contact you to confirm the
extension.
• You are not permitted, under any circumstances, to
extend your homestay directly with the host family. As per
your homestay agreement which you signed at the time of application,
the student must contact USH to process any homestay extensions.
You are not permitted to deal directly with the host family.
• If, for any reason, you are unhappy
with your host family, you are required to contact us within
the first week of your homestay so that we may help you move
to another homestay. If you do not contact us within the
first week, you may need to finish your first four weeks
with the host family before we can help you move (unless
it is an emergency situation).
• Please feel free to contact us toll-free anytime at 866-900-4USH if
you have questions or concerns about your stay in the host’s home.
